Soft V Neck Shape
Our “Soft V” neck profile is our signature shape, reminiscent of legendary guitars from the 50s
Hand-Wound Pickups
The Humbucker pickups are our interpretation of the classic PAF style pickups of the late ‘50s. They offer the richness in the lower end that made this design so popular, but without a trace of muddiness. The midrange is expressively vocal, and the top end has presence and airiness. The output power is definitively vintage; strong, with great clarity and definition. The Humbuckers provide a detailed, articulated tone, from clean melodic lines to classic rock riffs and hard rock leads. Show More
Each pickup we make is wound by hand, with a special attention to the scattered winding pattern and the correct tightness of the coils. All the components are carefully selected in the utmost respect of the materials and the techniques used in the Golden Age of the electric lutherie. A very specifically controlled amount of microphonic effect is intentionally allowed, in order for the pickups to transduce not only the string vibrations, but also the influence of the guitar wood and hardware on the vibrations themselves.Show Less

Contoured Lightweight Body
A contoured, original shaped, thin body made from 1-piece of Genuine Mahogany
Helena
With better access on the neck to the high frets with a flush mounted bolt-on neck and a comfortable heel joint. We’ve applied our road tested guitar building techniques and merged them with modern applications to create a guitar that produces a classic sound with modern playability. This finish will age/relic fairly quickly & naturally to ensure improved tone over time.

STANDARD BUILD
B&G Standard Build Helena guitars are hand-built using both traditional and modern techniques that deliver a vintage feel, look and sound…straight out of the case.

OLD MEETS NEW
We’ve applied our old-school guitar building techniques and merged them with modern luthiery applications to create a guitar that produces a classic sound while providing modern playability.

SOLID ONE-PIECE GENUINE MAHOGANY BODY
The body is made from one piece of Genuine Mahogany.

TRADITIONAL GLUES
Traditional glues are used for the frets and fretboard. These types of glues crystallize like glass when dry, creating a substantially thinner layer between the different parts allowing for optimal string energy transfer…significantly better than modern synthetic glues.

ONE-WAY TRUSS ROD
Single, one-way truss rods are lighter and require a smaller channel in the neck. This building technique also demands neck woods that are perfectly aged, plus accurate installation of the truss rod. We only use this specific truss rod design for improved tone transfer and sustain.

B&G PICKUPS
We use our Private Build pickups that have been developed and are hand-wound in-house, to ensure that specific tone we wanted for our guitars. The Helena is packed with a set of our crystal clear Humbuckers, unpotted. They are based on Alnico magnets and 42AWG lacquered enamel copper wire and are voiced to perfection.

HIGH END HARDWARE
The Gotoh Bridge and Tuning Machines have been selected for their outstanding tone, functionality and precision.

UNIQUE SCALE LENGTH
As guitar players, we always look for that perfect tone and balance from our instrument. With this “sweet spot” 25 ⅛” (63.82 cm) scale length, we’ve found the solution to the tonal limitations of ubiquitous guitars with 24 ¾” and 25 1/2 “ scale lengths. This unique scale length is designed to provide the player with unmatched versatility, unique tones and character; The tones are articulated and sweet, round but not muddy, sharp but not harsh, with a wide frequency range. This makes the Helena a workhorse for fingerstyle playing, arpeggios, rhythm and solos using a new pallet of sonic colors.

50’s STYLE WIRING
This wiring impacts the taper of the volume control lending to less treble bleed as the volume is reduced and produces a cleaner more open sound.

OPEN PORE NITROCELLULOSE FINISH
We apply a thin coat of nitrocellulose which allows the wood to breathe and resonate, reflecting the artist’s passion for playing. This finish will age/relic fairly quickly & naturally to ensure improved tone over time.
